Sunday Notes: Boots Off, Rest On

Happy Sunday evening, friends.

I hope you’re all doing well tonight. Things are okay here. I’m three weeks and a couple days post‑op, and while each day gets a little better, this surgery has definitely kicked my boots off. I can’t believe how tired I get. I guess it’s official… my body is getting older, even if my spirit refuses to.

I thought I’d sit down and write tonight, but I don’t have many words in me. I’m exhausted and ready for sleep. I spent the day with my nieces and two wonderful friends visiting from New Zealand, Michael and Wilhelmenia. What an incredible couple they are. They even invited me to join Carly and the girls in New Zealand next year. I’ll have to talk to John and see if it’s something we can do. They’re the kind of people who make you feel taken care of, and all we’d need is our flight and whatever extras we might want. The rest, they said, is on them.

Michael told me he volunteers for the trains back home and said I could ride with him and see the countryside of New Zealand by rail. What an experience that would be.

He treated all of us gals to a wonderful late lunch, early dinner at Ruby’s Diner in Carlsbad. We did a little sightseeing, ate, laughed, and then came home. It was such a relaxing day… maybe too relaxing… because I am wiped out tonight. I’m not sure if it was being out all day, the drive, or simply my body still healing. Either way, I came home, took the pups out for their final duty call, and tucked myself straight into bed.

I wanted to check in before drifting off, even if I don’t have a lot to share. Maybe it’s just the tired talking, and I’m letting that be okay. Not every Sunday needs a full story or a deep unraveling. My 6‑part series over on Substack is on hold for tonight too. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to continue tomorrow.

My honest truth is simple: I’m tired, I’m human, and I’m finally giving myself permission to rest. Tomorrow is a new day… a new beginning… and a chance to get done what didn’t get done today.

Wishing you all a peaceful night.

Thank you for being here for my Sunday notes.

Until next time, don’t forget
love life++ Hugs 🤍
