Sometimes the greatest lessons arrive while we’re waiting for someone we love to come home.
Happy Sunday everyone,
How are you doing? I’m so glad you found your way back to our weekend wrap up with Sunday Notes. Goal moving forward, write at the very least, Sunday Notes.
This week promises to be yet another busy week. After this week though, I’m going to clear my calendar and just enjoy being home, writing and crafting.
So tell me friends, how have you all been? Did you have a nice Halloween? I hope so. Did anyone dress up? John wore his Superman t-shirt and me, I wore my pumpkin jammies and a big orange bow in my hair. My new look, bows. John’s funny, he said he misses the 80’s when girls wore bows, so, here I am, wearing bows and I started this about a month ago, long before he even came home from Florida. I had no idea he liked this look, probably because he’s always telling me to just be me. Now, I can be me with the bonus of, he loves the look. Win, win here in our home.
John finally came home after being in Florida for 2 months. I sure did miss him, but I knew he needed to be there to ensure Grant was comfortable in his new home and environment. I’ll tell ya, it’s gotta be a huge reality check when you’re only 20 and you take on a job across the country, especially when you don’t know anyone. I’m glad John got to help Grant settle in. I’m sure that will be a bonding sort of memory they’ll both treasure forever.
This weekend with John coming home, we chose to do nothing. We stayed home, enjoyed a few trick-or-treaters and just relaxed. Yesterday I slept off and on. I think John’s right, I over did it, again, while he was gone. No, not the entire time, after all, I took an entire 4-6 weeks to recuperate from surgery and boy, did I have no choice in that. My body insisted this go around that I needed the rest and I had no option, but to listen. This past week I played tons of catch up and organized the garage for John along with my crafting area. I just wanted him to come home to warm and cozy and of course, being able to finally, after 10 months of living in this house, being able to get to his tool benches. Mission accomplished.
Life taught me a lot over the last couple of months. I learned I am more capable than I realized of being able to live alone. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m glad and over the moon happy that John’s home, however, I was able to be okay while he was gone. I’ll always need and want him, but I don’t have to be needy of him, if that makes sense.
I went through not one, but two surgeries two days apart. I handled organizing the garage, cleaning and semi-organizing my crafting space. I decorated for Halloween, alone and I was okay. I’ll tell you though, I do appreciate him being able to come back to a more organized home, especially since having our home more in order allowed us the time this weekend to just spend it together. I made room for the more important things, him and me.
I also learned that sometimes love is about giving the person you love the ability and understanding when they need to choose their son over you. I learned love is also the moment when you finally are able to stay home with just yourself. I learned to accept my feelings of missing John like crazy, at the same time, I learned that I don’t need to be so hard on myself, it’s okay to feel. Look at me, look how in just a year’s time, I’ve come a long way.
We take many roads in life, some not so easy, but isn’t it true, those roads teach us to never give up. They teach us to embrace the challenges and lessons of life.
Now, as this Sunday comes to a close and we launch into a brand-new month, let’s take a moment to allow ourselves to exhale. Let’s say goodbye to today and embrace whatever tomorrow brings our way.
Allow yourself to dream and who knows, maybe some of those dreams will come true.
Be safe out there my dear friends. Enjoy your week and until next time, don’t ever forget:
Love Life++ Hugs,
Dawna-Rae
