Happy Saturday evening everyone!
How are you all doing on this super Saturday night. All is well here — I just walked through the door after attending my very first rodeo. My sis Jeannie was gifted two VIP passes from a co‑worker and she invited me, and let me tell you, it was such a wonderful experience.
The rodeo was honestly so much more fun than I expected. Jeannie and I had great parking, easy in and easy out. We wandered through the vendors first and found the most beautiful pink and cream cowgirl hats with turquoise bands. They only had two left, but one had a defect. We almost settled on a different style, but in the end, settling just wasn’t for us.
Maybe next year we’ll find our perfect hat.
Inside the VIP section, we were treated to appetizers and an incredible dinner — tri‑tip, BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans, and all kinds of yummy sides. Drinks were flowing, but we stuck to water and soaked in the atmosphere.
I loved watching the riders and their horses, but I think the tractor races ended up being my favorite part. There was just something so fun and unexpected about it.
All in all, it was a great evening out with a bestie — simple, joyful, and full of little moments that made me smile. But I’ll be honest, I am exhausted, so tonight’s post will be short, sweet, and to the point.
Before I cuddle up in my bed and turn off the lights, and of course say my prayers, I want to leave you with a little something to carry into your pleasant dreams:
As I move through midlife, I’m learning that the smallest moments often end up being the ones that stay with me. Moments spent with a friend, my tribe, with John, or with one of the boys — those are the moments that leave the deepest imprint on my heart. Before you close your eyes tonight, maybe take a moment to reflect. Ask yourself, “What was one small, unexpected joy in your week that made you pause and smile?”
And with that thought, I’ll be saying goodnight. Until next time, don’t forget…
Love Life Hugs, Dawna
And may a butterfly cross your path when you need a reminder that you’re not alone.
That sounds like a perfect day, Dawna. I’m so glad you got to do that 🙂

Rodeos are a special kind of friend. The last one I went to was about 15 years ago. Thank you for the reminder to check one out this summer, dear Dawna.
