Galentine’s Day 2026

Happy Galentine’s Day everyone, especially to you ladies.

I do believe this was the first year the tribe and I celebrated Galentine’s Day and though some of the gals couldn’t make it and they were missed, those of that could make it had an incredible time. How about you ladies, anyone enjoy Galentine’s Day with your gal tribe? I’d love to hear all about it, so shoot me a text or drop me a comment, I always love hearing from you.

My friend Lisa is the one that suggested a Galentine luncheon and I’m glad she did. Olive Garden was the chosen luncheon place to go, and I think it’s safe to say, everyone had a tasty lunch. I think most of us ordered the ‘All You Can Eat’ soup and salad. Yummy! I always enjoy the Tuscano soup. My favorite for sure. Service was great and the conversation was even better.

So before today, I didn’t realize Galentine’s Day was a real thing. I just though Lisa was saying Galentine because it was a gal’s lunch, however, Galentine’s Day has been a thing since 2010.

I looked up the origin of the Holiday before the Holiday and it’s quite interesting.

According to AI overview:

Galentine’s Day, celebrated annually on February 13, originated from a 2010 episode of the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation (Season 2, Episode 16). Created by character Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), the day is dedicated to celebrating female friendship, typically with brunch, gifts, and the mantra “ladies celebrating ladies”.

Key Facts About Galentine’s Day:

  • Origin: Conceived in the episode titled “Galentine’s Day,” which aired on February 11, 2010.
  • Purpose: A day to honor female friends, described by Knope as, “It’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we come and kick it, breakfast style”.
  • Cultural Growth: While it started as a fictional, humorous concept, it has transformed into a real-world, widely recognized, and celebrated cultural holiday.
  • Traditions: Common celebrations include gift-giving (like handmade items), brunch, and spending quality time with friends.

The phrase is a portmanteau of “gal” and “Valentine’s”.

I love this tradition and I’m sure it’s one we’ll keep doing as a group of friends. I love the little gifts I received, and I felt bad I didn’t gift anything, but wait until the next luncheon, I’ll think of something fun to give.

I received some chocolates, tea, a beautiful heart-shaped teaspoon, a pen and some fun heart shaped glasses. These were so much fun to receive and I love them all.

My friend Jan had these beautiful pens with sayings on them. We each got to choose on that we felt fit us best. I had a hard time picking one, but in the end, I chose the one that said, “Make it Happen”!

Oh, I did a little more decorating too, wanna see?

I do need to fill a little more with some decor. The inside of my crates need a little more filler, or at least some filler. Got any suggestions?

I plan to leave up the love and heart decorations until after Kevin and Jaggers engagement party seeing that their party thing is That’s Amore’.

I still haven’t put up my valentine tree, but it will still get put up since I’ll have hearts and love sayings all over it for the party.

Then as I was about to finish up this blog, I found this outside on my little bench. My dear friend Anita dropped this off for John and I with a sweet message inside that said she is happy for us getting to celebrate Valentine’s Day in our new home that belongs to us. It was such an incredible reminder that yes, John and I have a home of our own.

Well guys, I need to get a couple things done, so I’ll be saying goodnight for now.

Until next time, don’t forget, Love Life++Hugs

    1. Awesome!! I hope more gals love the idea too and can enjoy Galentine’s Day with all their friends as well. I’m sure you’ll plan something pretty special. Oh, think ahead if you plan to do little goodie bags for the gals. Tomorrow will be a great day to shop for little trinkets to save for next year, though I probably wouldn’t buy and save candy…
      Hugs
