A sprinkle of love

Happy Wednesday evening everyone!

How was your day? Can you believe it, we’re halfway through the week. Time sure is flying by. A few more days until Valentine’s Day and then, in just a little over three months, I’ll be walking down the aisle with my son Kevin. Our final walk before he’s officially a married man. I wonder what we’ll talk about as we walk together down the aisle, my arm wrapped around his.

Kevin has made it very clear that he wants his first look to be with me. After all the groomsmen are ready and he’s dressed, he’s asked that the photographer capture me walking into his room. He’ll be staring out the window as I walk across the room and then, I’ll gently tap him on his shoulder. He’ll turn around and he wants that moment to be the one that the photographer captures. The look only a mother and son can share.

Kevin wants me to fix his bowtie. He wants me to straighten his collar. He wants to fully embrace that moment, so that will be the moment I say something to him that comes from my heart. Oh, I’m sure I’ll tell him how handsome he is. I’ll make sure to tell him how proud I am of him. I’ll remind him that he chose the girl of “our” dreams, but in that moment, I will tell him that I am officially taking my place right behind him and Jagger. She is now officially his everything and my place is standing back as they walk side by side in this life. I’ll forever be his mama, but Jagger will be his wife.

Today I spent a brief moment with Kevin. We did a little shopping for his engagement party, then I came home and while John was out, I decorated my fireplace for Valentine’s Day. I’ll make sure to leave it up for the engagement party here at the end of the month, after all, Valentine’s Day is about love and so is the engagement party. That’s Amore’.

Oh, did I mention I’m hosting Kevin and Jagger’s engagement party? Well, I am and I’m super excited.

It’s been a long time since I’ve decorated for a holiday. I think the last time I decorated was for the 4th of July 2025, then, we had the flood, followed by 7 months of destruction to my home. Ironically, the condo is still under construction and no kitchen in its near future, but now, John and I are safe and sound in our new home and it sure feels amazing to finally have some decorations up again.

Valentine’s Day marks the beginning of forever decorating in our new home. New beginnings, new adventures and a whole lot of decorating, Caliente way.

Below are some photos of the beginning of my decorations. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed putting them up.

I think I’ll add some photos of Kev and Jagger along with a banner that says, “soon to be Mr. and Mrs.” That should complete the fireplace, but those photos will have to wait until after Valentine’s Day.

Tomorrow I’ll be putting up my Valentine tree, at least that’s the game plan, but first, I have a dentist appointment followed by a quick trip to visit Aunt Billie.

For the first time in a long time, I got to decorate and it seems so fitting to be decorating with a sprinkle of love.

Tonight, I get to go to sleep with an extra bit of happiness filling my heart and a lot more gratitude for having a home that belongs to John and me.

Until next time, don’t forget, Love Life++ Hugs

  1. Loving the fireplace.  Your words about your son and how you dream the first pictures with him for his wedding made me tear up.  Loving MOM and SON.

  2. It sounds like Kevin know exactly how he wants that photo to look, so I hope it goes as he plans. I’m pleased you are excited about hosting the engagement party.

Valentine’s Day is just another day for me and Tim, although it is our second daughter’s birthday she will be 39, also your decorations look lovely

    1. I hope everything goes just as he’s imagining too and of course, I hope he gets a couple nice surprises along the way. He sure does deserve it.
Well, even though it’s just another day for you and Tim, I do hope it’s still extra special since it’s your #2 daughters big 39th birthday. Gosh, next year will you be planning a Happy 40th?
And I think I’m enjoying the decorations even more this year. New home, new beginning and an amazing man whose sharing this adventure with me.
      Hugs
