A tad bit of happy

Happy Friday,

How is everyone doing these days? It’s finally Friday and I don’t know about you all, but I have a busy weekend ahead of me. I’m trying to take things slowly, but on occasion I do overdo it a tad bit. Moving right after a surgery isn’t the smartest thing I’ve ever done, but I am grateful that we were able to hire movers to not only move us, but pack most of our belongings up too. We still have to have the movers come back and pack and mover the rest of our things, but that will have to wait until next week. John and I are taking things slower on this move.

It might seem a bit crazy to move in stages, however, this time, we decided to only bring to the new house our essentials. Next week when I’m hopeful I’ll be able to do more; I’ll head back to the condo and sort through all my holiday decorations. I need to scale way back. My new home isn’t quite big enough for 30+ Christmas trees, and that’s okay. I plan to put up maybe 8 this year and of those 8, only 4 will be over 6 foot. I have two pencil trees to put by my front door. I have two beautiful windows by my front door, and I think the pencil trees might look kinda nice.

I also have this huge walk up to my front door, so I might add a couple smaller trees outside.

Below is my front entry. Notice the two windows? Don’t you think two pencil trees might look nice right on the inside where the two windows are?

This morning I was watching a little Valentine DYI’s on YouTube and it made me think how much I missed not being able to decorate for Christmas, so, I rummaged through some of my boxes and found a few of my Valentine decorations. Guess what, I decided to dive into a tad bit of happy and decorate my tiered tray for Valentines Day. It felt amazing to be able to have something holiday up in our first and forever home.

Excuse the mess in the background. I’m still putting things away in the kitchen, but I did want to share with you what I came up with as far as my tiered tray. What do you think?

I’m hoping to get over to storage next week too. Hopefully Tommy or Kevin can come and help me move a couple of the heavier boxes. I’m still not allowed to lift over 8 pounds. My goal is also to be able to pick up my Valentine Tree so I can put that up with lights and ornaments. I have just the right place to put it. Fingers crossed I’ll be sharing those photos next week with you all.

My friend Jan is always telling me to do a little something that makes me happy each day. I took her up on that today. I decided instead of feeling blue about not having any Christmas Trees put up this year, I’d at the very least get my tiered tray decorated. I am so grateful for Jan. She always sends me sweet reminders on how blessed we are to live in such an incredible place. She reminds me that there’s always something to be grateful for. She reminds me to always take care of myself despite what’s going on around me.

Downsizing our home and lifestyle feels good. Some things I plan to keep, but for the most part, I never want to be held captive by STUFF! Even John has made several comments about feeling freed by letting go of things. We even made a pact not to hang anything on the walls for a couple of months. We want to live in our home for a while and see what feels good and right before putting a single nail in any way. No shelves. No art. Nothing other than window coverings a tad bit longer.

I think the best advice John and I have taken is to not only embrace our new home but allow it to embrace us.

Jan told me to take a few minutes each day and sit in each room. The more I do this, the more the home will speak to me, and it will direct me on how to decorate. I’ll admit, I do enjoy sitting in each room dreaming of what it will become, however, my favorite place to daydream is out on my deck. I am visualizing water features and of course, my all-seasons room.

Wanna see what I’m thinking for a water feature? Okay, below is something I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a reality. In time of course. No big projects for at least a year.

Lately, my days are spent dreaming about the endless possibilities of what can be and what might become of our space. I’m excited.

Tonight will be spent finishing up unpacking my kitchen. My wonderful nieces and a dear friend are here to help me tackle this huge project. Thank goodness for family and friends.

Well guys, I’m going to say goodnight for now. I’m in the mood to unpack another box.

Thank you for stopping by. Don’t forget, until next time, Love Life++ Hugs.
