The best thing

Happy Saturday night everyone!

How was your day? Mine was absolutely incredible, but before I share, let me say this; I’d love to hear how your day was, so shoot me a text or drop me a comment, I always love hearing from you.

So, my day began with a morning walk with John and the pups. We always have the best talks while walking and enjoying God’s creation. After our walk, we both had to get to gettin’ ready as we each had things to do. John needed to head to San Diego for Grant’s graduation party. Sadly, I had to miss it. I had already made plans months ago to be at a church fundraiser, “The Many Wonders of Christmas”. I go every year with my girl tribe, and this year was extra special. We had two tables of wonderful friends instead of just one. I believe there was 20 of us this year.

“The Many Wonders of Christmas” is amazing. There is always live entertainment, a wonderful luncheon which includes dessert. Today’s menu included a barbeque turkey, veggies and mashed potatoes. Oh, I forgot, we also had shrimp cocktail and a little side salad. Mini pumpkin pie completed the meal.

The fundraiser included 27 4-foot decorated Christmas trees. Each had an individual theme. Women from the community and church volunteer to decorate a tree. The trees are provided by the church, but the decorating and theme is solely the responsibility of the persons who volunteer to decorate the trees. My friend Shawna chose to decorate three trees. I bought tickets for the tree auction and put them in three of the trees auction boxes. Sadly, I didn’t win, but the money goes to a wonderful cause. This year the money raised will send children to a church camp. One of our servers today was a teen from the church and she sweetly said to us, “the money is going to pay for us to go to camp where we’ll learn all about Jesus. I can’t wait to go.” That was so worth the donation, even if I didn’t win.

With everything going on in life these days, not just for me, but for everyone around me and around the world, I think it’s hard for us to sometimes realize that there are folks in this world who are facing a battle much more difficult than ours. I know personally for John and me, we’ve been dealing with having to navigate our home without a kitchen. Can you believe it’s been nearly 5 months with no kitchen? I’ve had to live out of the home for most of the time because of the amount of mold and unsafe conditions. We’re assured now that those issues have been safely resolved. I’m not sure I buy into that, but I’m no expert, so all I can do is hope the management company is finally stepping up and telling the truth.

I am glad that things seem a little safer on the home front, at least I can stay at home more than not.

So much is going on in my life and I’m sure in your lives too, I thought I’d share something with you that’s really helped me get through some of the mental struggles. It’s a quote I found today on a Facebook post. I do have to apologize for not getting the page I found it on and with that being said, I must say, the credit does not go to me, I’m simply reposting it.

Life is crazy. It’s filled with ups and downs. We have no guarantees other than our faith and knowing that He is always there to accept whatever burden we can let go of and give to Him. We might not always get the answers we want. We might not always get the outcomes to our prayers, not because He isn’t listening. It might be that He has another plan for our life or the life of a loved one. We just have to be able to give the burdens we no longer choose to carry over to Him. It’s not easy. For some reason I think it’s safe to say that most of us, if not all of us forget to rely on His strength and let go and let God. I know I’m guilty of it.

I’m an overthinker by nature. I obsess over the detail’s way too much. I wonder more than I should, and guess what, all of this causes me so much stress. I’m getting better at letting go and letting God. I am a work in progress and something I work on each and every day is calming my mind and listening to His word.

When I walk through the woods and give my heart over to Him, I come home calmer. I come home refreshed because in the time I spend in prayer and supplication, I find peace. I find reminders in each and every step I take that He is with me. I am surrounded by His creation, and I am in His presence and that feels incredible.

I am here to tell you, the best thing we can all do is, breathe and have faith because everything works out the way He wants it to, and that’s for the best. At least that’s what I’m finding to be true.

And on that note, I will be saying goodnight. Thank you everyone for stopping by and taking the time to read tonight’s blog post. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Until next time, don’t forget, Love Life++ Hugs.

You are so right, the best thing we can do for our health is to sit and breathe.

    1. Hi Mary, I do hope all is well with you. It’s been a super busy last couple of weeks for me, but I’m finally home. Thank goodness. Still no kitchen, but I was able to get away for a little vacation with John. It truly was so relaxing. I loved every moment of our time away. Hope you are doing well and I do think of you often.
Hugs and love to you my friend.
