Friday fun

Happy Friday evening my friends,

How was your day? Ready for the weekend? I am. The weather is going to be perfect. A high of 67 in my neck of the woods and with weather like that, there’s generally a nice cool breeze that is present. Today was 63 out and the breeze was amazing. We had some clouds in the sky and the cool temperature made for the absolute perfect day.

What are your plans for the weekend? Shoot me a text or drop me a comment, I love hearing from everyone.

Tomorrow I am getting my hair done. I’ll be embarking on a new style. I’ll be sure to get some photos and share those with you all. I’ll admit, I’m a tad nervous. Then I remind myself, it’s only hair and my hair grow super duper fast, plus there’s this amazing invention known to us as the hat. I know my hair will turn out amazing. Courtney has done my hair so many times in the past and it always comes out perfect. Courtney is my daughter in laws older sister and she is absolutely the greatest. I guess I just get nervous stepping out of my comfort zone and into something new.

Today was absolutely the best. I didn’t have to get up early. The pups and I stayed in bed until 8:30, then we went for a long walk, found a few golf balls and some branches for the Easter Trees I’m putting together. I came home and tinkered around with some crafts. I also did a couple loads of laundry. When that was all done, I got myself showered and put together, of course in some comfy clothes and then I was off to the Dollar Tree with my friend and neighbor.

Sandy and I spent about an hour browsing. Yes, I bought more Easter. I don’t know what it is about all the holiday decor out. I can’t resist, plus I bought some stuff to make this extremely huge wreath that will go over my front window. I’ve never done a wreath this big, but I’m excited to give it a whirl. I’ll share photos once I get it made and put together.

I’m also making my friend Susan a small ironing station for when she goes to quilting classes. I got her a mini iron too. She used a friend of ours ironing station and iron during a class we took last month and Susan really liked it. I think she’s going to be super surprised. Susan’s birthday was Monday and she was out of town, so I’ve had a little extra time to get her gift put together. I’ll make it a point to stop by her office this coming week and give it to her. She’s in a few quilting groups during the week and I want her to be able to enjoy her gift.

After my trip to the Dollar Tree and Starbucks for what was supposed to be an iced coffee, they made a mistake and gave me a hot coffee, I came home and crafted a little more, took the pups out for another walk, then John and I went and picked up some not so great Chinese food and frozen yogurt. I think we both agree that the two new places we went to tonight are not on our radar for future visits.

Oh, John also took me to the new EoS Fitness club/gym that recently opened just down the street. Holy heck is that place incredible. My insurance covers me to go there, so I will be signing up this coming week. It’s been forever since I’ve been to the gym. EoS Fitness has the best pool and aqua classes that fit into my schedule. It’s a win win for me. I’ll be trying out the classes beginning Monday. Our tour guide was kind enough to give both John and I a week pass. I think going back to the gym might be a good thing for me. I can’t wait.

After dinner and yogurt I took the pups for their final walk of the day and then handled some club emails that I had to send out. I belong to a club here in my community and I’m in charge of all our vendors who attend our events. We have our annual Easter Carnival that we put on next Sunday. It’s so much work, but the pay off is well worth it. Seeing little ones run through our Easter Egg Patch is such a delight. Seeing little girls come all dressed in their Easter outfits, even some of the little boys come all dressed up. It’s amazing. The kids sure do look forward to seeing Mr. and Mrs. Bunny and getting their photo taken. My club puts on the event, but we are the ones getting the biggest gift from doing it. We get to see children’s faces beaming with delight from being able to go on an Easter Egg hunt, play carnival games and of course, they meet Mr. and Mrs. Bunny. What could be better then bringing a smile to so many little ones. I can’t wait.

Below is a photo of a little more decorating I did today. It’s a slow process for me this year, but I’m still loving it. I told myself I wasn’t going to decorate this year, but then, something comes over me and I just can’t help myself.

I told John when he asked me this morning why was I so happy, I said, I love decorating for Easter. He replied with, “you love decorating for all holidays.” Yup, he’s got that right. I am having fun painting and putting together my small Easter village. I’m also loving all the big Easter Egg ornaments I bought and putting them on home made trees.

Something about decorating makes me happy. On a selfish note, I’ve also enjoyed the time I’ve had with John yesterday evening and tonight. We have the house to ourselves and it’s nice. I don’t think he understands how much I appreciate having just him every once in awhile, but for me, it is nice. I do love the kiddo we still have at home, but it is nice to have just our time. We don’t get that very often. Actually, it seems like it’s less and less, but that’s how life is. What we had in mind isn’t always what we get and that’s okay. We never know what tomorrow might bring, so we might as well enjoy the moments have.

I guess I’m getting off on another subject. Sorry about that. Below are a couple photos of what I did today. Question? Do you think I should put some eyes, noses and mouths on my bunnies? Let me know. I can’t decide.

Excuse the mess in the background of the first photo. John’s got his Gove lights that he’s working on. Those are the curtain ones and they are incredible. He can create all sorts of amazing light shows on our garage with them. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for Easter.

Yesterday I made the the pink bucket bunny with the two eggs. Today I had to decorate another home made tree. I actually made two trees, however, I need to add more branches to the second one before I can share it with you. I just love the egg ornaments. They are so bright and happy. I love it all.

Tomorrow after I get my hair done I’m hoping to stop by our storage and pick up the rest of my Easter decor. I have a beautiful Easter tree I want to put up and I have more Easter village pieces too. One of my favorite things is my 6 foot blow up bunny. I need to find him so I can get him set up outside too.

Well guys, it is getting late so I think I’ll get ready for bed. Thank you for stopping by and taking time to read tonight’s blog. Before I go I wanted to take some time to thank Stephanie over at https://stephaniesninthsuitcase.com/ . She wrote a beautiful compliment about me and I’m speechless. I want to write my appreciation to her and I will do that within the next couple of days. I want to find the words to express how touched I am by her words about me. Our blogging community is amazing and we as a group uplift one another. We support each other’s writing, but more important, we cheer each other on.

Many of us are so blessed to not only have our family and friends read our blogs and support us, but we have our group of writers too. It’s such a gift to be here, writing and making connections and building new friendships with folks who find joy and strength by writing.

Anyway, before I get off on another tangent, I’m going to say goodnight. It feels so good to be writing tonight. Thank you my dear friends for being here and supporting my and my writing.

Until next time don’t forget, Love Life++ Hugs.

  1. I have not had a new hair style in a bloody long time.

The only time I decorate the house is at Christmas, although when I see all the pretty Easter stuff in the stores I kinda want to buy stuff and decorate the house but I don’t, why I don’t I do no know.

I am not a gym type of person, have been a few times way back when but just not me

    1. I’m right there with you. A new hair style has taken me years to get here. I went today and she wasn’t able to finish, so I go back Monday for the final cut and color adds. I can’t wait to share with everyone.
I think I decorate so much because I grew up as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and we weren’t allowed to celebrate holidays, birthdays or anything for that matter. I stayed in the cult until I was 48 years old. I’m 56 now. John says I have a lifetime of decorating to make up for, plus I enjoy crafting, so for me, I’m in overdrive and I decorate so much that I could open a holiday store, that is, a holiday store for each holiday.
I haven’t been to the gym in so long either. I am excited to go back and just swim and do the aqua classes. At least if I fall while swimming I’ll already be in the water. I suffer from extreme balance issues and I fall quite a bit. Oh well, I remind myself there is always someone that has life worse than me when it comes to health.
Hugs to you my dear friend.
