A re-blog From Behind the Pen-Be Careful of Subliminal Messages!

Happy Thursday everyone,

Gosh, what timing this blog is. I’ve been struggling lately with thoughts of “why bother,” and “I’m not sure I’m good enough.” Those thoughts stem from thoughts I can’t control in my mind. Like Kym Gordon Moore said in this blog, these thoughts have nothing else better to do than to attack our moral compass.

I was talking with an adoptive mother to me this morning and telling her there are times I feel things like resentment and that’s not me and that’s not who I want to be or become. Sometimes a thought jumps into my mind from gosh knows where and it evolves into it’s own story line. The thoughts become so uncontrollable that they do send me in a downward mental spiral and they do create the perfect storm in the nosedive of self-defeat because I allow this to happen, though I don’t always realize I’m doing it until the thoughts have not only developed, but bloomed.

Last night John came into the living room while I was finishing up a Diamond Art project and he asked me why I was listening to an ex-JW on YouTube.

I explained to him that listening to some of the ex-JW’s, it helps me remember certain things about being in the cult and it helps me think

Sometimes subliminal messages can make us feel defeated because of the negative rays that pounce on our mental stress and make us ask ourselves, “Why bother?” or “I don’t think I am good enough.” This is exactly why we have to be mindful of the type of messaging we ingest. Nowadays, there’s way too much noise in the air that sends you into a downward mental spiral creating the perfect storm in a nosedive of self-defeat, if you allow it. Be careful of those subliminal messages that try to seek, kill, and destroy. Such messages really have nothing else better to do than to attack your moral compass.

While I don’t always feel the things I watch are intended to make me feel a certain way or trigger certain thoughts that I’ve suppressed, the messages very well could be doing this to my subconscious. I think this is why I get so hung up on certain thoughts, there’s phrases I hear that take my mind back to being controlled and it takes me back to needing to be in control of my environment so I don’t fail. So I don’t fall short of being good enough. So I don’t continue in a mind set of why bother.

A subliminal message is words or phrases, even images that are inserted or forced into something or someone, especially by the media and this is done below our threshold of conscious awareness.

This is something else John and I have been talking a lot about. Well, maybe not so much about subliminal messages, but manipulation. Subliminal manipulation. Please readers, Kym, correct me if I’m wrong here, but wouldn’t a subliminal message be in some way a form of manipulation?

I get that what is being talked about here is regarding more about hidden messages found in advertisements and such, however, back to me watching an ex-JW on YouTube. While I don’t think her message was one to manipulate me, in some way looking back, it triggered something in me and the way I feel about myself and the need for controlling my environment because of the subliminal messages I heard or seen in Watchtower propaganda as a child.

Kym’s blog has gotten me to really dive deep into this whole subliminal messaging. I’m going down the rabbit hole on this one. It’s so fascinating to me how this all works and I love the science behind it, but the psychology behind it has me really wanting to learn more. Below is a definition of subliminal message that I found on Ignite Visibility.

  • Real subliminal messages cannot be easily observed or uncovered by the conscious mind, despite your efforts to actively look for them. This is because the things we see and hear around us on a daily basis are above the threshold of conscious perception, whereas subliminal messages often fall below this threshold-Ignite visibility

I know I’ve gotten us a little off Kym’s direction for her blog, and I’m sure she will dive deeper into this topic on her site. There’s so much to unravel here. It’s incredible. I love what she said: ” A subliminal message is a message meant to be interpreted by the consumer below the level of conscious perception. Thus, this is why we must be aware of the type of unhealthy things we allow to take root and dwell in our minds and spirits when the button someone else controls is hit repeatedly before our very eyes. Hit the “Rebuke Button” when you don’t want to swallow the insanity someone is trying to make you eat.”

Hitting the “Rebuke Button” is absolutely what I want to do, but we, or I need to be aware of the insanity others are trying to make us or me eat.

Kym really hit the nail on the head. She’s got me thinking about something quite honestly I never heard of. At least never thought of.

I hope you go check out her blog site. She has a wealth of knowledge and I’m so grateful for her post. I am prompted by what she wrote to learn something new. Heck, I learned something new in just the short time that I’ve been researching subliminal messages.

Below is the link to Kym’s blog site. It’s amazing.

There is a lot to learn and study on this subject. Thank you Kym Gordon Moore for this amazing post. I only hope what I added does your post justice.

I’m going to stop here, at least for now. I have a lot to learn and I don’t want to write something that isn’t thought out or researched properly. I want to make sure I’m clear on what subliminal messages are and what subliminal manipulation is and what their similarities are and what the differences are. I owe that to you readers.

I can’t wait to learn more about this topic. For now though I do need to head out. Gotta pick up the kiddo from school.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and I hope you all have the greatest of days.

Until next time, don’t forget, Love Life++ Hugs.

  1. Oh wow Dawna, thank you so much for reblogging my post. 🙏🏼 I simply love the additional research you added and the illustrations add a lot to your piece. Some subliminal messaging is good, while some others are in a way…misleading. We just have to be mindful of what we ingest and what we shouldn’t allow in. Thanks once again my friend. 🥰💋😍 Great job! 👍🏼
