Happy Monday evening,
How are all you my amazing friends, family, and framily doing tonight? Did you have a good day? I hope so. All is well here with me.
Tonight I just wanted to pop in and say hi and share with you some of the beautiful moon photos I took this evening. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed just walking out my front door and `standing in awe of the magnificent moon that is lighting up my sky here in my neck of the woods.
The moon tonight is so beyond beautiful so I decided to look up the type of moon we have tonight.
According to timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/wolf.html, the moon is all it’s glory tonight is called the Wolf Moon.
“Jan 13, 2025 at 2:26 pm
The year’s first Full Moon, Wolf Moon, is named after howling wolves, but it’s also often called the Moon After Yule in the Anglo-Saxon tradition.
January’s Full Moon is known as the Wolf Moon, after active wolves during the early parts of the year.
The name is thought to have a Celtic and Old English origin, brought over to North America by European settlers. Other Celtic names for the Full Moon include Stay Home Moon and Quiet Moon, while in some Native American cultures, it is called Severe Moon or Center Moon.
In Anglo-Saxon culture, January’s Full Moon was also called the Moon after Yule. Pre-Christian Yule (or Juul) is the ancient winter solstice festival usually celebrated around December 21.
Do Wolves Howl at the Moon?
Wolves howl to communicate over long distances. It is a way of saying “here I am” to the rest of the pack or “stay away” to intruders.
There is no indication that the Moon phase plays any particular part in the wolf’s calls, but wolves are nocturnal animals, so they are generally more active at night. Wolves do howl in the direction of the sky because projecting their howl upward carries the sound farther.”
So there you have it my dear readers, a little history lesson about the moon that is beyond beautiful tonight.
Below are some photos. I hope you enjoy:

Sometimes I wonder how such ideas such as wolfs howling at the moon come about, is tv and movies to blame or is it some old fashion belief that just hangs around. I like looking at the moon I find it peaceful

I find the moon so peaceful too and I’m not too sure how the howling at the moon came about. Might be something worth looking up. I guess I have some homework in my near future

And to think, the photos didn’t give it true justice. Until someone told me it was a Wolf Moon, I never knew the many names it has either. Something new to research for me. Hugs to you my dear friend.
