I’m back

Happy Monday everyone,

How are you doing on this hot, yet gorgeous day? Did you enjoy your weekend? I hope so. Shoot me a text or drop me a comment, I’d love to hear from you.

Sorry about being absent last week. I had a procedure done and boy o boy, did it set me back big time. I think Saturday was my worst day. The good news is I have feeling back in my leg. Bad news, it feels at times like lightening is shooting up my leg into my lower back.

Today I’m up and around a little more. Trying to catch up on things I need to do around the house. I got a little watering of the plants done and I went to the store and got some things to make Swiss steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. I really want something yummy tonight.

While I was recuperating this past week I spent a lot of time in bed looking out at the lake and one thing I realized I was missing was my hummingbirds. I have feeders out front, but had nothing out back or on my balcony so I decided to order two humming bird feeders and now I have a few little ones coming to feed. As I sit here writing today I am beyond distracted as they fly around outside my window feeding and interacting with one another. Actually I think the bigger hummingbird is trying to keep the littler one away, but it’s still entertaining and fun to watch.

I even had a bigger bird stop by to try and get a drink, but his beak was too big to get into the feeder holes so he took off.

These little birds have inspired me to create a little sanctuary for them on my balcony. I’m going to begin decorating outside and I want to get a couple of houses for the hummingbirds and some food for them too, besides the sugar water they’re devouring.

Johns mom and dad bought me a finch feeder bag and stand that I want to put up on the patio downstairs. I never realized how wonderful and amazing it is to just sit and watch this birds come and go. I’m hoping to get a little bird bath and fountain for outside for my little feathered friends.

Nature sure is calming. It’s been so nice for my recovery being able to lay in bed and just enjoy watching the birds outside along with the views of the lake of course. This truly has become my happy space. Sadly we’re hitting temps of near 100 again this week, so I won’t be sitting outside, but once it cools again I plan to sit out on my balcony for hours writing. I have another book idea, so what better time to start writing then now. I’ll keep you posted on how the new book progresses.

Below are a couple of photos I captured. Sorry the quality isn’t all that great. My window and screen are closed, so there’s a little glare and yuck on my screen. Looks like little mosquitos tried to make their way into my cooler house.

And here’s the bigger bird that tried to get a little sugar water. Silly bird, your beak is too big, but not worries, I’ll get you a feeder too.

It was a hard week not being able to write and read and listen to my books. I’m glad I had the down time to recover, but I’m not one that can sit as a rule. My body won this past week and I actually found myself taking a few naps and keeping my feet up. I am so appreciative of all the help John gave to me. My friend Sandy brought me over the best chicken tortilla soup at the exact time I was craving it. It was yummy in my tummy.

I was actually able to finish another diamond art project yesterday. Being able to work on my art and staying home has really helped me appreciate just being home. I’m excited to be getting stronger every day which means I can write more and craft more. I’ve got the best of both worlds. Crafting/quilting and writing. I’m a happy camper.

I’m also blessed to have my Molly and Oreo who love to cuddle up in our king size bed with me. Of course they take the majority of the bed and leave me just enough room to sit. Actually, barely enough room to sit.

“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”-Josh Billings.

Gotta love my girls. They are lots of work at times yet they are so full of love. Always by my side no matter what.

Molly and Oreo enjoy being close to me while being sprawled out across my bed. When I sit on my couch to write they snuggle up so close to my legs I can barely move. They’re both super affectionate and not far from me when I’m not feeling well or when I’m in pain. They just know how I’m doing and they never are far from my arms so I can pet them.

Today I wanted to write and just give you an update on where I’ve been and how I’ve been feeling. I plan to write again daily, so please come back and check out my blog. I am so appreciative of all the support I’ve been getting and I’m excited to be up and around more now and I’m so grateful for the time I get to spend writing.

“Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind is written large in his works.”-Virginia Woolf.

I’m back and I’m excited to write again. This is how we do it. This is how we become successful authors and writers. We write everyday no matter what. We read everyday too.

“This is how you do it: you sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it’s done. It’s that easy, and that hard.”-Neil Gaiman.

Today I sat down at the keyboard and just wrote what’s on my mind. Tomorrow I’ll sit down again and write and again the next day and the next and so on and so on.

My dear friends, thank you for all the well wishes and positive vibes and prayers.

Until next time, don’t forget, Love Life++ Hugs.

  1. I’m glad you can see the birds, Dawna. They make me happy, as well. Your art is beautiful. And look at you getting ready for Thanksgiving! I don’t know if you have Hobby Lobby near you, but the store has had all the Christmas decorations displayed for the last month. Feel better, dear Dawna.

    1. We are kindred spirits my dear friend and thank you for the compliment on my art. I love Hobby Lobby. I was recently there and holy moly, the Christmas was nearly the entire store. I had to leave cause I would have been in big trouble if I stayed.

Thank you for the well wishes. Hugs to you my dear friend.
