Happy Monday
How are you doing today? It’s Monday and it’s April Fools Day. Have you been pranked or have you pranked anyone yet? Knock on wood, I haven’t received any pranks and I haven’t handed out any. Not really planning to participate in dishing out jokes either. It’s really not my thing, and that’s okay. Maybe you enjoy the harmless joke or two, and if you do, I hope you and the pranked get a big laugh, after all, laughter is a wonderful medicine we can all use from time to time.
Did you enjoy your Easter weekend? I did. We got some good amounts of rain, and yesterday, John and I did a 4 1/2 mile walk. Well, he walked, I rode my mobility scooter. I sure enjoy those times with him. In between his sprints, we get to talk.
John says sometimes we talk more when we’re on the phone with each other or on our walks. Neither of us can figure out why. The only conclusion I can come to is; when we’re home we have distractions such as our devices at our fingertips and the TV, or there’s always something that needs to be done. We’ve decided beginning in June we’ll have every day together, so we plan to walk every night after dinner and just catch up with no distractions. Goals are a good thing.
I wanted to thank everyone for all the positive feedback I’ve been receiving lately. I feel so inspired and I wake up every morning with a new passion for my writing and this is in part to you readers who keep encouraging me to write, write, write.
My goal, as you all know is to become a published author and I am actually seeing that as my reality soon. I just feel like I’m almost there. I need to keep growing my blog site and I need to get my YouTube up and running again, along with my Podcast. I think once I get this done, I’ll be right on the cusp of seeing my dreams become real and if they don’t, the journey sure is amazing.
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”-Zig Ziglar.
I was talking with John yesterday on our walk and telling him my dreams of growing my blog, podcast and YouTube channel. I see this as my career. I’m passionate about it and I love to write and if anyone knows me, I love to talk, just not in large crowds. I think out loud. I enjoy the journey of where different topics take me. I love talking to my neighbors and hearing their stories and I love to read. I also enjoy listening to other commentators.
I love to imagine conversations with people who are making a statement in our world. How awesome to one day having the opportunity to talk to Oprah, or Mel Robbins. I mean, they have ideas on life and they share those ideas with the world. A conversation with them would be amazing and it would be more than off the charts incredible, if I got to interview them on my channel or podcast. Dreaming big here.
Our world is full of ideas and dreams. It’s also full of negative. I suppose it’s our choice on which train to jump on. Like I said in my last blog, I’m trying to stay on the positive path. I want to chase my dreams. I want to make a difference and I want to matter.
One thing I do want to incorporate in my life is this. I want to take more time to read other peoples blogs. I’ve seen a few writers who have read and liked mine, and I have looked at their sites, but I want to start pulling into my blog some of their quotes, poems and comments, after all, in some way, they have the same dream I do. We want to write and touch the hearts of our readers. Why not support each other and cheer one another on to success?
I will become an author, either self published or my ultimate dream would be to be picked up by one of the Houses. I’ll be submitting a manuscript to Hay House in August. My goal is to upload my manuscript on my birthday.
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”-C.S Lewis.
I’m sure most of you have heard of Louise Hay. Did you know she was 50 when she wrote her first book? She was 62 when she opened Hay House. Talk about thriving in your second half of life. Goodness, this woman, who passed away at the age of 90, she inspired the world to never give up on your dreams.
In life, the older we get, the easier it becomes to settle into a routine and stop pursuing our dreams. We work from the time we are 16 or so until we retire or have been retired due to medical issues. Most people work until mid to late 60’s. We work to survive and we work to support our families and much of the time, our dreams are put on the back burner.
I’m not sure how many people in life truly get to live their dreams, but I think it’s safe to say, many of us can’t because of the responsibilities we acquire as adults. Some of us want to be artists, others, full time travelers. Me, I want to be a writer. I might be 55 years old, but it’s not too late.
I do need to work a little harder on my mindset. I have to rid myself of the doubts. Let me say this, I so very much appreciate all of you who take time to give me your support on my writing. You keep the fire lit, especially in times I don’t feel I can keep going or when I become distracted. Thank you.
“Remember, you have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”-Louise Hay.
Those words couldn’t be truer. Many of us, me included, spend our lives thinking we aren’t good enough to follow that dream. We may shrug it off as being only a hobby, and if that’s all it is, wonderful, however, if it’s your passion to do something, you’re never too old.
We need to cheer ourselves on. We need to believe in who we were meant to be. We need to believe in our destiny. We should never give up or put our dreams out to pasture. We are good enough, I’m good enough.
“I believe that if you’ll just stand up and go, life will open up for you. Something just motivates you to keep moving.”-Tina Turner.
The first step to success is the hardest. It takes courage to put yourself out there and go after your dreams. Some of us, lose site of that. I know I do. My biggest obstacle is myself. I’m learning to say no, however, I still struggle with making my life a priority. I struggle with making time, or should I say, buying out time for the things that are important to me.
One thing I’m certainly guilty of is saying I can get that done tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and I fall short. I fail myself because I allowed something else to take my time. I do find having a check list is helping. I struggle with not checking most, if not all my boxes for the day. It weighs on me when I can’t check off those boxes. The feeling I get hurts. To avoid the hurt, I have to accomplish my check list. I also need to learn to give myself grace when I just can’t get everything done. Balance! That’s one of life’s many secrets.
I have also found that writing deadlines for myself on my calendar helps. I look at my calendar every day and I try to write everything down. If I fail to look at my calendar, it most certainly becomes the case that I forgot to do something.
Life is all about the journey, not the destination. We all have the same ending. We’ll all die someday and how sad it would be if we didn’t buy out the time to approve ourselves and follow our dreams? If we only try to make our dreams come true, we can at least say, I tried.
Today, I get to put a check in the box that says, wrote my blog and spent time with my readers telling them about me and my journey. It’s a good day.
I hope you can check off some of your boxes too. You matter and so do your dreams and your journey.
Until next time, I hope you have the greatest of days and don’t forget, Love Life++ Hugs.
